A Modular Battery That Grows With Your Home
Sungrow is one of the most widely installed battery and inverter brands in Australia, and its SBR high-voltage battery is the system we install most often. The SBR is built from 3.2kWh stackable modules, so the same battery can be sized for a small household or expanded for a large family home with air-conditioning, a pool or an electric vehicle.
Our 30kWh Sungrow package pairs the battery with an 8kW Sungrow hybrid inverter. One inverter manages your solar panels, the battery and the grid connection, and the iSolarCloud app shows what your system is producing, storing and using in real time.
Because Sungrow makes both the inverter and the battery, the two are designed to work together. That simplifies installation, warranty claims and future upgrades, and it is a big part of why the system is popular with Sydney installers and homeowners.

Is Sungrow SBR HV Battery Right for Your Home?
Sungrow suits most Sydney households, which is why it is our best seller. It is a strong choice if you want proven, widely supported equipment at a sensible price, and if you like the idea of starting with the capacity you need now and adding modules later.
It works particularly well for families with high evening use, such as cooking, air-conditioning, lighting and entertainment between 4pm and 10pm, when grid prices are usually highest. A well-sized Sungrow system stores surplus midday solar and releases it through the evening peak.
If you already have Sungrow solar, ask us whether your existing inverter can take an SBR battery or whether a new hybrid inverter is the better path. We check this at the free site visit.
Why Homeowners Choose Sungrow
- Very widely installed in Australia, with strong local support
- Modular design: expand in 3.2kWh steps
- Inverter and battery from the same manufacturer
- LFP chemistry with a 10-year warranty
- Our best-value package per kWh of storage
Things to Weigh Up
- Battery power output depends on the hybrid inverter chosen
- Large stacks are heavy, so the wall or floor location matters
- Backup power needs a backup circuit wired at install
- Very large batteries earn less rebate per extra kWh after 14kWh
Battery Rebate on a Sungrow System
Under the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, a Sungrow battery installed by an SAA-accredited installer earns small-scale technology certificates (STCs) based on its usable capacity. From 1 May 2026 the first 14kWh earns the full rate, capacity between 14 and 28kWh earns 60% and capacity between 28 and 50kWh earns 15%. We claim the certificates for you and take the value off your invoice.
The rate steps down every six months until 2030, and the rebate is set by your installation date, not the date you sign. Read the full guide on our battery rebate page.
How Sungrow Compares With Other Batteries We Install
Every brand has strengths. We recommend the battery that suits your usage, your inverter and your budget, not the one with the biggest margin.

Backup Power Needs a Backup Circuit
A Sungrow battery can keep essential circuits running during a grid outage, but only when it is installed with a backup (EPS) circuit through the hybrid inverter. It does not power the whole house automatically by default.
During your site visit we agree which circuits matter most, such as the fridge, lights, Wi-Fi and selected power points, and wire them to the backup supply. We also confirm whether your switchboard needs work and include it in the fixed price.
- SAA-accredited installers on every job, never subcontractors
- Connection application lodged with your network for you
- Monitoring app set up on your phone at handover
- Local after-care from our Mount Druitt team, operating since 2017

Sungrow Battery FAQs
How much does a Sungrow battery cost in Sydney?
Our Sungrow package with a 30kWh battery and 8kW hybrid inverter starts from $7,999 installed. The final price depends on your switchboard, backup wiring and site, and is fixed in writing before any work starts.
How much battery rebate does a Sungrow battery get?
A 30kWh Sungrow system installed between May and December 2026 earns around 154 STCs, worth roughly $5,900 at about $38 per STC, under the tiered Cheaper Home Batteries Program. We apply it at the point of sale.
Can I add more Sungrow modules later?
Yes. The SBR is modular in 3.2kWh steps, up to eight modules per stack. Adding modules later is possible, although it is usually most cost-effective to size the battery properly at installation.
Is the Sungrow battery safe?
The SBR uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, which are known for thermal stability, and it is rated IP55. We install it to Australian standards in a suitable location, which we confirm at the site visit.
Will a Sungrow battery work in a blackout?
Yes, if it is installed with a backup circuit. We wire the essential circuits you choose so they keep running during an outage.
What warranty comes with a Sungrow battery?
Sungrow provides a 10-year manufacturer warranty on the SBR battery, and we add our own 10-year workmanship warranty. We handle any claims for you.
Can I add a Sungrow battery to my existing solar?
Often yes. We check your current inverter and panels and recommend either a compatible battery connection or a new Sungrow hybrid inverter.
