Solar Panels in The Ponds: What Local Homes Need
The Ponds is one of the newer suburbs in Sydney's North West growth corridor. It became an official suburb in 2007, when the first land lots were released, and takes its name from nearby Second Ponds Creek. The estate's planning and sustainability work was recognised with industry awards in 2012.
Almost every home here was built from 2007 onwards, so most have modern roofs, wiring and smart meters. Many were built to BASIX energy standards with a small solar system or other efficiency measures included by the builder. Those early builder systems are now well over a decade old and usually far too small for a family with air-conditioning, a dishwasher, a dryer and, increasingly, an electric car.
Lots are generally smaller than in older suburbs and many homes are double-storey, so roof space is tighter than the floor area suggests. We plan the layout face by face, use high-efficiency panels where space is limited, and place the inverter and battery in the garage or on a shaded side wall.
Solar & Battery Systems We Recommend for The Ponds Homes
For a four or five-bedroom home in The Ponds, the 13.3kW package with a 42kWh battery is usually the best fit if the roof allows. Where roof space is tight, the 10.45kW package with a 28kWh battery still covers most daytime use and much of the evening. If you have an older builder system, we will price keeping it alongside a battery as well as a full replacement.
Getting more from solar in The Ponds
Families in The Ponds are often out during the day for work and school, so most electricity is used in the late afternoon and evening. That makes the battery the key part of the system: the panels fill it while the house is empty, and it runs air-conditioning, cooking, lighting and devices when everyone comes home. If you have an EV or are planning one, a smart charger can top the car up from surplus solar on weekends and draw from the battery or grid overnight only when needed. Double-storey homes also benefit from zoned air-conditioning; cooling only the rooms in use stretches the battery further. If your home has a heat-pump or electric hot water system, we can set it to heat during peak solar hours. We document every installation with photos and a layout plan, which is useful if you later sell or need to show a builder exactly what was installed.
Sizing a System for Your The Ponds Home
We start from your last four bills. In The Ponds that usually lands on the highlighted row, then the site visit confirms roof space and shading. If an EV, pool or heat-pump hot water is coming, say so now so the inverter is sized for it.
Compare every size on the solar and battery packages page, or see how home batteries work.
Endeavour Energy Connection in The Ponds
The Ponds is supplied by Endeavour Energy. Modern homes here generally connect without switchboard work, but replacing or expanding an older builder system counts as a new connection application, which we lodge for the whole installation.
Endeavour’s standard export limit is around 5kW, with flexible exports of up to about 10kW for compatible inverters. See export limits by network.

Solar FAQs for The Ponds
How much do solar panels cost in The Ponds?
Packages start from $7,499 for 6.65kW solar with a 16kWh battery. The 13.3kW package we most often fit in The Ponds starts from $12,499. If you already have a builder system, you will see both an upgrade price and a replacement price so you can compare.
How long does a solar installation take in The Ponds?
Network approval from Endeavour Energy usually takes a few days to two weeks, and the install itself is normally one day. Modern homes with smart meters are usually installed in a single day once approval is through.
Do I need council approval for solar panels in The Ponds?
Usually not. Rooftop solar on a house in Blacktown is generally exempt development in NSW when standard conditions are met. We confirm this for every The Ponds property during the site visit.
Can I add a battery to my existing solar in The Ponds?
Usually, yes. We either swap the old inverter for a hybrid inverter or add an AC-coupled battery, and the battery still qualifies for the federal discount. It needs a new Endeavour Energy application, which we lodge for you.
